The HCT Industrial Fire Fighting Piercing Rod is designed for the application of water and a fire suppression agent to coal fires or other industrial storage situations where fires must be fought from the top of a bunker or silo and access is not safe or is limited. The piercing rod is designed to penetrate the coal or other flammable by means of a sledgehammer, post driver, pneumatic driver, or an electric driver to accommodate available resources at plant site.

The stainless steel nozzle of the piercing rod is replaceable in case of wear and is designed for easy penetration. Small, easy to handle stainless steel sections can be assembled together to achieve the desired distance from the top of the storage facility to the burning coal. The couplings at each end incorporate a course thread to minimize the required revolutions for assembly. An eductor adapter utilizes standard tapered pipe thread to accept a variety of eductor and hose configurations.

After the fire has been extinguished, the piercing rod can be disassembled, stored in a compact container, and placed in a convenient location.
